Triethylsilane (Triethylsilane), abbreviated as Et3SiH, is a common reducing agent, which is mainly used in the synthesis of organosilicon. Generally, the reduction reaction is carried out in an alkaline environment. Triethylsilane can be done in an acidic environment such as TFA in Chemicalbook. The use of reducing agent is its biggest feature. It can be used for the reduction of acetals, or the elimination of terminal alkoxy groups of sugars, etc. In addition, it can be used with transition metal catalysts to do hydrosilylation scission addition.
