U.S. companies file a 337 investigation application targeting specific automotive parts, components, and downstream vehicles.

On February 5, 2026, General Motors Company of the United States filed a petition with the U.S. International Trade Commission under Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930, alleging that certain vehicle parts, components thereof, and vehicles containing the same, which are exported to the U.S., imported into the U.S., or sold in the U.S., infringe its patent rights. The company requested the initiation of a Section 337 investigation and the issuance of a general exclusion order, a limited exclusion order, and cease and desist orders. A total of 20 enterprises from the United States, China, and other countries are involved in the case.
